Preventative Maintenance Plans

Why do I need a maintenance program?

When a car never has its engine oil changed, the engine overheats, which causes it to run less efficiently. Over time this will eventually lead to engine components warping and wearing out until the engine shuts down and the whole thing needs repairing. Replacing an engine is a lot more expensive than changing the oil every few thousand miles. Similarly, it is cheaper to maintenance an air conditioning or heating unit than it is to replace the whole thing. Rather than having to pay a large sum for a new system, keep yours in top shape and save money in the long run.

Why pay for a maintenance program when there's a chance that my system won't break down?

A heating and air conditioning system is a very big investment. Here in West Texas, you’re likely to have a miserable summer and an equally bad winter without a functioning system. While some people like to say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” we at Arctic Air believe it is worth the money to ensure that you aren’t going to be without a working heater or air conditioner when you need, and you won’t have to fork over a large sum to replace it on top of that. It can cost anywhere from a few thousand dollars to $6,000 to replace your average system. For as much as you depend on your HVAC system (all day, every day), you don’t want to be without it for long, and you want to keep it working well for as long as you can.

What does a maintenance plan consist of?

During your scheduled maintenance, we will:

Clean and lubricate all the moving components in your system. The West Texas wind can cause buildups of dirt and debris in your system, which can lead to increased energy use, higher electricity bills, and you (or your family members) getting sick more frequently. Dirt and buildup can also wear out motors and bearings. Condensation in drains can lead to damaging water leaks, To keep these from becoming big problems and expensive repairs, we clean all parts of your unit.

Fine tune your system for maximum temperature comfort and lower utility bills. In order to function at its peak and help you pay less for your utilities, it needs to be fine tuned and adjusted. We adjust your combustion and cooling controls to make sure your system is performing at its best and your utility bills aren’t higher than they need to be.

Repair coolant leaks. Your system will occasionally have a freon leak, but it should not need recharging every year.

Test safety controls and check for gas and carbon monoxide leaks. Systems that are poorly maintained or left alone for months or years on end are not only inefficient, but can also be deadly. Our trained technicians will look for signs of gas and carbon monoxide leaks and test safety controls to ensure that everything is working correctly. We value you and your family’s safety.

Install quality, high-functioning air filters. Air filters are not meant to be installed and then left alone. Arctic Air will install custom-made air filters that keep your system and home clean as well as protect your health. We also provide filters for the entire year and will remind you when it is time for them to be changed.
